The world of Darjeeling Tea is one where all things are calm, life is serene and friendships are measured by the number of sips one takes in the other's presence. Tea is the oldest form of beverage and the highest volume drunk besides water. Tea is the earliest tonic recorded by man and is one of the simplest recipes across the board. Almost any concoction that requires immersion of a dry substance, and frees in some cases, in hot water where the flavor imparted into the hot water is referred to as tea.
Specifically, Darjeeling Tea comes from a shrub that can climb six feet if left to its own deices, but for simplicity its is pruned constantly to about three feet where it is simpler to pluck the new leaves shooting on top. These new leaves provide higher quality brews and fetch higher prices and greater pride. Darjeeling Tea is harvested thrice yearly and blended with the leaves of different regions to provide a consistent flavor. Tea, in general neer contains the leaves from a single plantation.
They are blended with the produce of multiple regions so that there is no variation, or very little if an, of taste. If only the leaves of one plantation are used in a package, then any changes in the factor that gives tea its taste and quality will affect the consistency of the taste of that particular brand. As such, in the interest of consistency, blends are created by sourcing the leaves from various plantations.
By doing this the master brewer is able to spread the flavor profile over a wider geographic sample. Darjeeling Tea extracts its essence from its surroundings. DarjeelingTea found in Kenya, for example, will vary from its ditant cousin found along the hill reaching the Himalayas. As diverse as is east is from the west, so to are the flavored of tea that is native to their respective earths. Tea trees have ability to color their taste to their immediate environment as a chameleon would its surrounding.
Because of this reason, master tea brewers pull the leaves from different grounds so that in case there is slight difference in flavor from the leaves of one plantation, its change is muted when mixed with the leaves of others. Darjeeling Tea are a drink of the land as it combines the chemistry of water to the biodiversity of the leaf. The leaf tree deciphers the character of the land then imprints its findings in leaves. When immersed the leaves are persuaded to impart these findings into its brew.
